Our events, forums and networks are a great way of sharing learning and best practice, and keeping in touch with your peers.

Digital skills communities of practice

Various dates in January and February | via Zoom

For social workers, occupational therapists, principal social workers and principal occupational therapists.  

We're hosting a series of community of practice sessions running in January and February that will increase digital confidence and technology skills. The sessions will facilitate practical learning with the opportunity to explore real-world scenarios, benefit from peer support and collaborate in facilitated breakout rooms to analyse key themes in depth.

The sessions will cover the following topics:

  • What does artificial intelligence (AI) mean to me?
  • Digital leadership
  • The internet of things

ASYE drop-in sessions

The drop-in sessions are for ASYE leads/co-ordinators only. We operate on a ‘open door’ basis, you can join whenever you want to and stay for as long as you want to. It’s a space to ask anything you’d like clarification on about the ASYE programme, or you can just listen to what other people are asking and discussing. 

All drop in sessions are 10:00-12:00:

  • Wednesday 15 January 2025
  • Wednesday 19 February 2025          
  • Wednesday 19 March 2025   

 

If you're a newly qualified social worker or an assessor, you can attend one of our forums instead. Details are below.

 


  

NQSW forum 

Tuesday 2 February 2025 | 14:00-16:00 | Zoom

The forum is an opportunity, for you as a NQSW, to share your thoughts and opinions about what you think works well and where there is room for improvement. 

It's for all NQSWs from both adults and child and family services who would like the opportunity to influence the national framework of the ASYE programme. 

   

 


 

ASYE assessors forum 

Tuesday 11 February 2025 | 14:00-16:00 | Zoom 

This forum brings together ASYE assessors' from across the country and is an opportunity to share thoughts and ideas about what you think works well with the ASYE and where there are areas for improvement. It’s open to anyone who is assessing NQSWs from both adults and child and family services. The meetings often explore ASYE developments and is an opportunity for ASYE assessors and coordinators to learn from and support each other. 

 


 

Group for Ethnic Minority Social Workers (GEMS) forum

Tuesday 25 February 2025 | 10:00-12:00 | Zoom

This forum is for newly qualified social workers (NQSWs) who self-identify as ethnically diverse. During the first meeting the group decided on its name. It’s open to NQSWs from both adults and child and family services. It facilitates discussion of issues which pertain to NQSWs who identify as ethnically diverse and to explore issues around working together, experiences of ASYE programmes and understanding of anti-racist practice issues. 

 


 

Action learning sets to support child and family ASYE assessors/supervisors - only three places left

We’re providing action learning development programmes for supervisors and assessors in child and family services. These ILM Recognised programmes will be delivered virtually by our colleagues at the Centre for Action Learning. .  

This programme is designed to provide participants with a robust introduction to action learning practices and insight into its unique benefits for personal and peer development. 

There’s one place left on the programme starting in January and two places left on the programme that’s due to start in March.

Action learning facilitation training for ASYE co-ordinators/leads and supervisors – only two places left

The Department for Education has provided the funding to enable us to train more action learning facilitators in child and family services. This ILM Recognised programmes will be delivered virtually by our colleagues at the Centre for Action Learning and is ideally suited to people who are well positioned in their organisation to design, introduce and facilitate a new action learning programme in their team or department. 

Action learning is a structured technique used to facilitate individual, professional and organisational development and change. It brings together small groups of invested people to tackle real life problems or issues whilst encouraging reflection to develop practice. 

The training starts in early January 2025.
