Race Equality Week

Race Equality Week is an annual UK-wide movement uniting thousands of organisations and individuals, to address the barriers to race equality in the workplace. This year's theme is #EveryActionCounts.

Race Equality Week provides an opportunity for organisations to reflect on progress made and actions taken to create fairer and more equitable environment for everyone.

Understanding equality and equity

Equality means treating everyone the same, giving them the same resources and opportunities. Equity means recognising that people have different needs and providing support tailored to help everyone achieve the same outcome. It's important to note, that while we aim for equity in the workplace, the law protecting against discrimination is focused on equality and is called the 'Equality Act 2010'.

Blogs and articles

During the week we'll be publishing blogs and articles sharing actions that organisations and individuals have taken to drive positive change in the workplace. The first article will be published on Monday 3 February.

Resources to support equality, diversity and inclusivity in the workplace

There are lots of different characteristics that set individuals apart from each other, such as someone’s ethnicity or religion, their gender and sexuality, age or if they have a disability. All these characteristics could lead to varying levels of discrimination and privilege.

We have a range of resources to support employers to build inclusive and equitable workplace cultures and develop more diverse and compassionate leaders.
