Employers can claim funding to support a newly qualified social worker (NQSW) through the Assessed and Supported Year of Employment (ASYE) programme and apply for ASYE certification.

Your NQSW(s) will need to complete a self-assessment against the child and family post qualifying standards. The assessment form (provided by the employer) will identify learning needs for the year which will inform their professional development plans.

To be able to offer the funding, we work with the Department for Education (DfE).

Access the funding platform

The platform for registering newly qualified social workers (NQSWs) who are commencing their ASYE programme between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025 is open.

If you’re a new primary contact within your organisation, please email childandfamilyASYE@skillsforcare.org.uk before you try to access the platform so that we can send you an activation link.

In order to claim Department for Education funding during 2024-25 financial year, you’re required to provide evidence from the quality assurance process for your ASYE programme. This will be in the format of the action plan for continuous development. The action plan is an online form which is accessed via the child and family ASYE platform. The online form has been simplified to make it easier and more intuitive for you to fill in.

No payments will be made for registered NQSWs until the action plan for continuous development has been received via the platform.

Any action plans dated since 1 October 2023 will be accepted in 2024-25. However, you must re-submit your action plan using the online form for 2024-25 on the platform.

Please note that until the action plan has been completed and submitted on the platform, you will not be able to access the area of the platform where you register your NQSWs. Once it’s been submitted and checked, this area will become available to you.

We would also like to remind you that the deadline for claiming a final completion payment for NQSWs registered within cohort 10 (2021-22) is 31 March 2025.

Certification

Certificates will be issued to employers for NQSWs that have started from 1 April 2021 onwards. To claim a certificate, employers need to update the NQSW record on the funding platform with the date of completion of the ASYE.
