It鈥檚 Good News Friday and this week we鈥檙e celebrating apprenticeships in honour of National Apprenticeship Week.

We spoke to an employer and a training provider about what they’ve done to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) this year, and how they offer recognition to their apprentices.

This is what they told us.

Tempest Training

Tempest Training have over 20 years’ experience in delivering training to a variety of employers and individuals across the UK. They told us what they had planned during NAW, and how they’ll be celebrating apprentices.

We鈥檝e planned our social media strategy for the week, and have been gathering case studies from our learners, gathering feedback from employers and creating engaging content for Twitter, LinkedIn and our website.

We鈥檙e also hosting a brunch on Friday 10 February at our offices. We鈥檙e inviting the employers, and the apprentices themselves, to host a celebratory event that includes an opportunity to network, share success stories, and listen to other employers about how apprenticeships benefit their organisation.

We also have a local MP coming to the event, in which he鈥檒l present certificates to our guests.

Mencap

Employing a number of apprentices, Mencap offers a range of services and support aimed at improving people’s lives. We asked them how they provide recognition and celebrate the success of their apprentices.

We run virtual celebratory events every six months attended and supported by our executive team. We set it up like the Oscars with a plush red velvet background and stage.

We have the names of people and their qualifications running up the screen like film credits to uplifting music. It's really powerful and moving. Each person is presented with an internal certificate of recognition by respective directors, and we also record the whole thing and share this on our internal site so that everyone across Mencap can share in the celebration.

For National Apprenticeship Week, we have made a myth buster video starring colleagues who鈥檝e completed their apprenticeship qualifications. We also have plans to tweet out and internally share stories on our internal social platform Yammer.
